Q. How large of an event is the Symposium?
A. In 1999 we planned for 250 attendees, about 380 people registered and showed up. For 2000 we decided that 500 people was about as large as we wanted the event to become, and about 550 people all told showed up. For 2001 we are again looking to keep the numbers reasonable at around 500. Q. Should I attend?
A. The Linux symposium brings together the key Linux developers, Free Software Developers and serious enthusiasts from around the world. If you are a software developer, or a hardcore Linux geek, then this event is for you. Q. Are there any group discounts? A. On full admission costs (both early and late registration) institutions or corporations who purchase 10 or more admissions are able to claim a 10% discount. Q. Cheques must be payable to "Ottawa Linux Symposium". All cheque payments must be received within two weeks of registration to reserve your place. Q. Is there a mailing list? A. Yes, you subscribe by following this link. Q. What is this I hear about the legal drinking age in Canada! A. Yes, what you have heard is true. In Ontario (the provice that Ottawa is in) the legal drinking age is 19. About 5 minutes away in Quebec it is 18. Q. What paperwork do I need to get into Canada? For most Americans, all you require is your birth certificate or other proof of citizenship, and some kind of photo ID. A passport is recommended but not required. All others should double check the requirements for entering Canada with your local government, a passport is a minimum.
