Call for Papers - Ottawa Linux Symposium 2002

We are pleased to invite you to participate in the 4th Annual Ottawa Linux Symposium (OLS).

OLS is Linux and Linux related software developers symposium with a strong focus on emerging technologies, research projects, and works in progress. We invite contribution from the free software and commercial developers.

Papers based on works in progress, R&D; studies, as well as ongoing projects are welcome.

The papers should be written with a strong technical content bias. Papers and proposals of a business development or marketing nature are not appropriate for this venue. Recycled papers will not be accepted.

Timeline

Proposals are due by March 1st, 2002
Abstracts are due by April 1st, 2002
Papers are due by May 1st, 2002 (no extensions)

Confirmation of accepted papers will be made March 8th and 15th, 2002.

Presentations

Presentation time slots are 60 minutes long, including 15 minutes intended to be used as a question period. Double length presentations will also be accepted; please specify when submitting your proposal.

LCD projectors will be available to display slides from any VGA source. If you require any additional AV equipment please specify when you submit your proposal.

What and How to Submit

Authors must submit a minimum of a two paragraph paper proposal. The proposal should cover the goal of the paper, and define the scope, and target audience.

Proposals must be submitted via our web interface located at https://secure.linuxsymposium.org/2002/index.php where you will be asked to create a speaker account prior to submission.

Final papers should be submitted in TeX/LaTeX using the OLS Style template. Papers may range from 6-20 pages in length. LaTeX templates are at http://www.linuxsymposium.org/papers.tar.gz. Papers will also be accepted in ASCII but TeX/LaTeX is strongly recommended.

Formatting Assistance

We have people available to help with formatting of your papers. If you require formatting assistance please allow a minimum of 2-weeks lead time ahead of any published deadline.

Review Process
Papers will be reviewed by the members of the committee, and accepted authors will be notified by email. Authors of any papers not accepted will also be notified. You will also be able to use our web interface to check the status of your proposal.

Publication
The symposium requires publication rights to the accepted papers, including the publication of the audio proceedings as well as publication and reproduction rights to any video filmed during the presentations. Copyright ownership is retained by the author. These rights need not be exclusive.
