APT for RPM

For a long time, RPM based distributions have lacked a standard frontend for easy management of packages, with automatic dependency resolution and all the features of Debian's APT. Many vendors have started their own efforts to create a tool that did something similar to APT, but none with the same power and flexibility of the original. This paper describes the implementation of a RPM backend for APT. Details about what was needed to implement it, what shortcomings of APT and the RPM package format were found and what was done to solve or workaround the problems will be discussed
