Sugar for the Raspberry Pi

Joseph Sleiman

The Raspberry Pi is an affordable hardware project: the Sugar environment is an easy-to-use and easy-to-enhance desktop environment. Merging the two would bring a perfect platform to introduce computing, without tying people to a platform that might not exist in five years.

There might be difficulties in porting Sugar to the Raspberry Pi, software issues inherent to Sugar, and merits of keeping a traditional interface (LXDE). I hope to meet with people who would be interested in porting Sugar to the Pi and helping to push it as a rapid prototyping platform with easy access to Python (and many other languages), and GPIO (so that hardware work can be attempted).
