Donald Porter

Donald Porter is a fifth year Ph.D. student at the University of Texas at Austin. He has coauthored research papers in the top operating systems, architecture, programming languages, and security conferences. Many of these papers evaluate new system building techniques as extensions to the Linux kernel. Donald's dissertation developed novel techniques for supporting transactional semantics for OS-managed resources, such as files, processes, and signals, and is implemented as extensions to the Linux kernel. Before starting graduate school, Donald developed data center tools for Acxiom and was an active contributor to the open source parallel virtual filesystem project.
