Kerrighed BOF

Louis Rilling (louis.rilling@kerlabs.com)

Kerrighed (http://www.kerrighed.org/) is a Single System Image operating system for clusters. It provides userspace with the view of a unique powerful SMP machine on top of a cluster of standard PCs or VMs. Kerrighed has enhanced cluster features, like transparent process migration, remote fork, checkpointing, and memory aggregation. Kerrighed is implemented as an extension to the Linux kernel (a set of modules and a patch to the kernel), so that no changes to Linux userspace binaries are required. The current development version is based on Linux 2.6.30.

This BOF will allow attendees to (re-)discover Kerrighed and sample usecases, will present the numerous updates since the latest stable release based on Linux 2.6.20 (Kerrighed containerization, nodes hotplug, etc.), and will open discussions about future works.
