Comparing the Speed of Windows and Linux

Randy Appleton (rappleto@nmu.edu)

We benchmarked both Linux and Microsoft Windows. We measured user level tasks such as editing images, copying files, creating documents, and compiling programs. Each one is faster at some tasks and slower at others. This ten minute talk describes where Linux shines, and where it needs additional work.
