Kdump: Smarter, Easier, TrustierVivek Goyal (firstname.lastname@example.org)
Kdump has witnessed many new developments in the last year. Relocatable kernel allows a single kernel binary to be used both as regular and capture kernel. We discuss internals of relocatable kernel implementation. Dump filtering and dump capturing from early user space (initrd) is finally here and we provide details of various options and implementation internals. We also discuss kdump testing framework, LKDTM (jprobe module), and device driver hardening efforts. Finally we mention in brief what lies ahead, especially early boot crash dumping.
The target audience for this presentation is kernel developers who are interested in the relocatable kernel internals, kdump users who wish to further refine, enhance and harden their crash recovery environment and distros who will want to put all the pieces together.
