Ruby on Rails: Application Development With KDevelop and RadRailsAlexander Dymo (email@example.com)
Ruby on Rails recently became the popular open source framework for web application development. This tutorial will serve as a primer for effective use of the best two available tools for Rails - KDevelop and RadRails. The tutorial will be split into two parts where a simple web application will be created with KDevelop and RadRails respectively. In both cases Rails project will be created and IDE features like code navigation, keyword completion, abbreviations, server and database management, rhtml template editing, code testing will be demonstrated.
The intended audience for this tutorial is developers interested in effective development with Ruby on Rails. Prior familiarity with Ruby on Rails is desired. KDevelop and RadRails experience is not expected. Participants are supposed to supply laptops and to be able to boot from CD's. They will be provided with Kubuntu or OpenSuSE CD's with preconfigured KDevelop and RadRails.
