Making Applications Mobile Under Linux

Would you like to be able to move your running apps to another machine while you boot into a new kernel? What good is migrating running apps for performance tuning if each application carries the cost of a full running kernel ?

Live migration of applications can be fast and easy using application set checkpoint and restart. This approach requires a lightweight container environment, similar to vserver, which is used to isolate and virtualize various system resources with a minimal overhead on performance. The kernel components are also enhanced to provide a way to set/get internal states. Such features will also be beneficial to security and resource management applications.

The talk will be centered around a working prototype, and culminate in a demonstration.
