Tracing BOF

Many projects are currently evolving to offer better tracing of the Linux Kernel. At OLS 2005, the SystemTAP and LTT teams agreed that, even though the goals of the projects are different, there are fields which are prone to standardization and cooperation.

The tracing project teams (SystemTAP, Linux Trace Toolkit, and Kernel Function Trace) will do a short presentation of their respective goals to open the discussion about standardization of trace formats and static instrumentation of the Kernel. Benefits of connecting the projects together will also be discussed.

The targeted audience goes from the developers to users of the actual tracing projects.
