Linux Symposium - Call for Papers

July 19-22nd, 2006, Ottawa, Canada

The Linux Symposium is the premier technical event focusing on Linux. Developers and users explore the latest developments and learn about what will be cutting-edge.

We invite you to submit a proposal to present a technical paper or tutorial, or to host a meeting (BoFS, or Birds of a Feather Session).

Step 1.

Submit Proposal

The review committee assesses the relevance of your proposal to the Linux community, your qualifications to be presenting your proposed topic, and your rationale.

Proposals are between 1000 and 1500 characters in length.

You will also be required to submit a personal biography of up to 1000 characters concurrently with your proposal. Please focus on relevant experience to your proposal topic and write from the third-person perspective.

Proposals will be accepted from January 1st, 2006 until February 1st, 2006.

Step 2.

Committee Review

The programme committee will review your proposal per the guidelines above. Notification of acceptance or rejection will be sent by February 15th, 2006.

Step 3

Submit Abstract

If your proposal is accepted you will be required to submit an abstract of up to 500 words. Please try to capture the essence of your paper in your abstract. You will be able to edit your abstracts on-line until April 1st, 2006.

Abstracts must be submitted by March 1st, 2006.

Step 4

Paper Submission

Papers must be formatted using the provided LaTeX template. Please allow yourself time to become familiar with LaTeX and the template as no other format will be accepted and if you require assistance you MUST request it a minimum of two weeks in advance of the submission deadline.

Final papers must be submitted in tar format and must include the template, any and all images and scripts required to build. Colour images may be used if the addition of colour adds to the impact of the image. Please do not use colour unless it is required. Papers should be a minimum of 5 pages (rendered) and a maximum of 15 pages.

Final papers must be submitted by April 1st, 2006.

Step 5

Presentation

Paper presentations will be 45 minutes in length including time for questions followed by a 15 minute break. Tutorials may occupy multiple timeslots.

An XGA (1024x786) LCD projector will be available to display output from a laptop computer. If you will require additional AV equipment please specify this in your proposal.

Fine Print

Publication Rights

The conference requires non-exclusive publication rights to submitted papers including the publication of audio and video proceedings. Copyright is retained by the author. We do ask that we be the first organisation to publish any given paper.

Failure to Submit

In the event that a deadline is missed we reserve the right to revoke any offer to present.
