Linux Power Management

Power Management has been one of the hottest topics in Linux Kernel development over the last few years. It has been one of the most talked-about subjects in the last few months and is undergoing a flurry of development trying to make it work perfectly.

Every July, the core Power Management developers congegrate in Ottawa to discuss the rich and complex system of problems that Power Managemnt is. Most of the time has been (appropriately) spent focused on the technical kernel issues. However, the project has matured and grown beyond the kernel. We will spend a lot of time discussing development issues, but this meeting is different.

This BOF is an opportunity for us to communicate with a broad range of developers and users that we don't typically interact with. We want to use this opportunity to a) solicit feedback from both developers throughout the application stack and the users of the power management subsystem; b) to take suggestions on the interface and performance; and c) to further the understanding of power management issues so that we can all help make the subsystem better.
