KDevelop - the comprehensive tool for development tasks

Alexander Dymo (adymo@kdevelop.org)

The evolution of KDevelop project from an IDE to a platform is covered. A plugin-based architecture of KDevelop 3.x series is considered and the IDE and complementary applications built on top of the platform are mentioned. Then KDevelop IDE is considered as a complete toolset for all development tasks on Unix platform from Shell, Perl, Python and Ruby scripting to C/C++ application development for KDE/GNOME. New GUI RAD features of KDevelop 3.1 and 3.2 are highlighted with an accent on RAD GUI development in C++, Python and Ruby languages using Qt and KDE libraries. The integration of available command line programmer tools like compilers, build systems, code documenters, debuggers, profilers, etc. is also discussed.
