We have events happening from an informal gathering at a local pub on the Tuesday evening before the Symposium to the bike ride around Ottawa on the Sunday afternoon after the Symposium.

Getting there from the airport

ARC THE.HOTEL is located 12 kilometres/7 miles from the Macdonald Cartier International Airport. Take the Airport Parkway north (which will become Bronson Avenue) and turn right onto Slater. You will find the hotel located on the right hand side of Slater between O'Connor and Metcalfe Streets. A Taxi to The Arc is about $25.

Les Suites

The hotel reservation code for this year is LINUX2005. While they do accept on-line reservations we strongly recommend that you make your reservation by telephone. The rates for this year are $175/night for one-bedroom suites (2 rooms), $195/night for executive suites (1 bedroom, living room, and office), and $215/night for a two bedroom suite (2 bedroom, living room), all rooms have a full kitchen, microwave, and laundry facilities.

Getting there from the airport

The Airport is only about 20 minutes from the Congress Centre. The #97 bus will take you right to the Congress Centre and around the corner from Les Suites for only $2.60, depart at the Mackenzie King Bridge. The hotel shuttle runs regularly from the Airport for $14CAD and a Taxi to Les Suites is about $25.

Getting into Canada

The Government of Canada website lists the full official requirements on what is required to visit Canada.

For most countries a passport is sufficient. We recommend Americans obtain passports for this visit to ensure a comfortable experience at the border.

VISA Requirements

If you are going to require a travel VISA please do not delay in applying as governments are unpredictable and irational and it may require some special attention to get sorted out.
