Userspace filesystems with FUSE

Michael Still (mikal@stillhq.com)

FUSE is a kernel module for Linux 2.4 and 2.6 which allows for the easy implementation of filesystems in userspace. This tutorial discusses: the architecture of FUSE; how to implement a userspace filesystem with FUSE, with reference to my own userspace filesystems; why this is interesting and useful, including the rapid development of special purpose filesystems by programmers without kernel programming experience.
