Linux on the Laptop

The 'Linux on the Laptop' BOF is intended to provide a gathering of like minds interested in seeing and understanding the technologies and capabilities being enabled by today's laptops--and how to leverage those features with Linux.

Over the past few years, two key technical areas have evolved that are very important for laptop users: power management and wireless connectivity. The current "state of Linux" on these topics will be presented covering projects and direction from the kernel up to user space utilities, both command line and GUI.

Introductory information will be provided on areas such as processor states, demand based frequency scaling, suspend/resume, AC/battery transitions, 802.11, encryption and authentication, hotspot interaction, and so on.

This BOF is intended to be an interactive session discussing the current capabilities, gaps, and direction for Linux on the Laptop.
