Porting device drivers to 2.6Jonathan M CorbetThe 2.5 development series has brought with it the usual array of incompatible changes to the internal kernel API. This talk will provide an overview of those changes, with an emphasis on useful information for developers who need to port code to the new kernel. Among other things, the talk will touch on the new module loader, kernel preemption, block layer changes, the device model, and memory handling changes. Some familiarity with the kernel API will be assumed. |
