PowerPC 64-bit Kernel Internals

This presentation describes the internals of the new PowerPC 64-bit Linux kernel. The new 64-bit PowerPC kernel is based on the preexisting PowerPC 32-bit kernel, with major enhancements to the memory management system including a new memory map, support for discontiguous physical memory and a new mechanism for maintaining the coherency between the hardware hashed page table and the Linux software page table. We'll also describe the syscall design which includes a 32-bit syscall interface which allows for execution of unmodified PowerPC 32-bit binaries.
