Video4Linux

Video4Linux provides the video capture and overlay facilities in Linux 2.2 and 2.4. New video capture devices and digital TV cards have additional demands. How the Video4Linux interface works and how to write a good driver will be covered. We will then cover the features of the 2.4 kernel and the sections of Video4Linux2 that are required to extend the API for the future.

Alan Cox

Alan has been working on the Linux kernel for about eight years. He maintained the late 2.0 kernel tree and currently maintains the 2.2 stable tree. He maintained the networking code for the kernels up to 2.0 and wrote the initial appletalk and IPX network code.

Alan works for Red Hat software doing kernel development and helping to solve complex support problems. He previously ran Building Number Three a Linux consulting company.
