Crusoe Architecture and Optimisation Strategies

The Crusoe is a new family of low-powered IA32-compatible CPU's offered by Transmeta. Crusoe processors are being integrated into "web slates" and other embedded systems which typically run Linux.

This will be an overview of the Crusoe micro-architecture in addition to a discussion of the most significant bits of optimization strategies. Understanding the Crusoe family's strengths will help you write faster games, I mean, applications. Come armed with questions for a beefy Q&A session.

Dave Taylor was quickly recognized as one of the early adopters of Linux in the commercial game industry, when he brought us ports of Abuse, Doom, and Quake to Linux. He is currently a software engineer at Transmeta. Dave holds a BSEE from the University of Texas at Austin.
