Fast Forwarding the Bird We will go into some details of some work done to improve Linux's packet forwarding capacity using commodity off the shelf hardware. Some suggested improvements to the lower layers of the Linux network stack are discussed.Although the focus is on fast packet forwarding, the solution also applies to situations where servers are under unrealistically heavy loads such as extreme case benchmarks and on packet sniffer equipment monitoring high speeds.
